With intimate access, Exodus Stories follows the high-stakes journeys of Central American immigrants Daisy, Dennis, and Cindy who escape violence and persecution and join the 2018-19 migrant caravans only to face their most decisive battle: making their case for U.S asylum, an institution they find under siege. Capturing their resilience every step of the way, they prove the American Dream is a beacon for those coming from a nightmare.

Fleeing with her sisters after receiving threats, Daisy hopes to use the long trek to connect with her estranged adolescent daughter. Nicaraguan University student Dennis leaves his pregnant spouse behind after being threatened for participating in anti-government protests. After witnessing a murder, Honduran Cindy leaves her history of abuse behind to give her two young boys the childhood she never had.

Through their stories, the film explores the political and economic situations in their home countries, while viscerally capturing the perils of the 2,600-mile journey, and countless deterrents they face waiting for weeks at the border and once inside the U.S. trying to plead their case. Guided by their deep religious faith and desire for a better future, the unending resilience of immigrants is captured while examining America’s identity, moral values, and the right to asylum. But with the odds stacked against them, will their determination be enough?
